A major healthcare facility was having compliance issues with pH and mercury discharging to the MWRA. CAPACCIO assisted the client in evaluating the appropriateness of existing limestone chip tanks and identified these systems as biological accumulators for mercury.

CAPACCIO designed dual-stage chemical-injection pH adjustment WWT systems to replace the limestone chip tanks. Each system was designed to include a state-of-the-art effluent monitoring system.

CAPACCIO integrated WWT system controls into the client’s existing building automation system (BAS). CAPACCIO worked with the client to identify critical BAS alarms to improve emergency response times and identified BAS system trending data to improve system maintenance for these remote wastewater treatment systems.
